The G8 is using the food crisis to promote their free trade agenda (Hokkaido, 9 July 2008) Reacting to the G8 Leaders statement on Global Food Security issued last night in Hokkaido, Via Campesina farmer leader Mr. Yoshitaka Mashima said: «We do not understand why the G8 leaders pretend to solve the food crisis with more free trade while it is the liberalisation of agriculture and food markets that continue to lead us to the current crisis. People need to eat local food to protect themselves from the instability of world markets. We do not need more imported food».

At a press conference today, farmers leaders said that the G8 governments were mistakenly using the current food and climate crisis to promote the free trade agenda that is serving large companies and not producers of food and consumers. The G8 leader’s statement insists on reviving the agonising WTO negotiations and on preventing countries from regulating food exports.

However, small farmers around the world, men and wo…

THE INFERNAL NOISE BRIGADE, the anarcho marching band that had performed in the midst of actions against G8 or WTO whenever they were held in a city, and gave the protesters courage and danceable impetus. Anarchist dj FILASTINE has been dropping sound bombs that smash borders and go beyond them. These two provided their music for NO G8 ACTION JAPAN, a network against this year's G8 held by lake Toya in Hokkaido. The compilation contains 11 unreleased songs from their early music career by the I.N.B and the latest mix by Filastine. Listening to this will certainly hype you up enough to get together with others and plunge into Hokkaido in July.

    • If I used advanced interface it is possible to have pic and text together?
      • It is possible both with the simple and advanced interfaces.
        • With the advanced interface, there is a temporary “multipublish” patch (software that is only rough and will be improved later) so that if you choose text/html or text/textile as your format, then the first picture will automatically appear as something like a thumbnail at the beginning of the text. Afterwards, you can click on “html” or “textile” below the title to see the html code used for this. This “multipublish” patch should be considered as only a temporary solution. It does not apply for default format or for text/plain format, because html code does not function in those formats.
        • With the simple interface, first publish the photo, e.g. as an independent “article” or as a reply to another article. Use your browser to check the URL of the image. Then publish an article using standard html and include the image usi…

    • I do not understand. If we add a button it will still only be a reply? How to distinguish from translations and comments in another language?

This refers to the ADD TRANSLATION button proposal: ADD TRANSLATION button – a button which says ‘add translation’ but in reality its technical function is exactly identical to ‘reply’, unless the user has logged in. If the user has logged in, then “relating” the reply to the Translation focus (step 5 of http://japan.axxs.org/5009) will be done automatically.

If the user has logged in, then according to the proposal, “relating” the reply to the Translation focus (step 5 of How do I publish a translation?) will be done automatically , i.e. it will be considered afterwards to be a translation.

If the user has not logged in (i.e. is anonymous), then someone (anyone with a login, s/he does not need to be a moderator) has to “clean up” by doing step 5 of …

    • If i add a picture no text appears.

There is a warning about this in the box where you enter the picture filename: Alternatively, upload a file (formats supported: jpg, png, gif, pdf, ogg, mp3, mpeg, avi, wmv, torrent, asf) The word alternatively indicates that it’s an alternative to entering text.

    • I do not understand this (in simple mode) Why is it EITHER /OR

The reason why is, i think, due to simplicity. Loading text or an image as a single item for the whole information storage structure (database) is simple than loading a complex item including both text and photo/audio/video. So first you publish e.g. text and then you add a photo as a comment. Or vice versa. Without any restrictions for further adding text or photos/audio/video.

    • Why does the addition of a picture require you to choose from a limited # of focuses?

It is not required. “Add another focus” is an optional action.
